Tribute to Clyde Frank Gilmore -
K0JPJ
SK July 2016 at age 75
I 1st met Frank in 1959 when He graduated from High School and moved to the town where I lived. Frank didnt have a job then, but had the best of ham gear. He was always busy buying and selling ham gear. I got Frank a job at the warehouse where I worked. He didnt stay long... Harry Reed at the local electronics part store set Frank up in a ham store in a small building on the property.
After that Frank got on at Burstein-Appleby ham and electronics section in the local Katz Drug. I bought my 1st SSB rig from him there, a Swan SW140, which I used to talk to Frank on 40M SSB when he moved on to his next job at ARRL in 1962.
Below is the QSL from W1AW where Frank and I had QSOs we also worked each other from his rooming house there in CT using K0JPJ/1.
After returning here, Frank went to College and taught a communications course at SMS the local college.
Later he became a Deputy for Greene County Sheriffs office before retiring due to health problems.
