April 29, 1948 - July 2023

George was a huge contributor to Hamgallery. He would send scans of QSL cards, photos and documents including history every month. We exchanged many emails about many subjects. George would always come up with an answer to all my questions. You can see what George sent by going to the Hamgallery home page and type UY5XE into the search engine there! George was licensed in 1966. In 1986 he volunteered his services as a Chernobyl liquidator. He was an active DXer and contester, and a historian who authored a large number of books and articles about amateur radio. An early supporter of the IOTA program, he participated in many DXpeditions, notably 4K3MI (1990, EU-119), 4K4I (1991, AS-086), 4K4N (1993, AS-104) and EM5UIA (2000, EU-179, EU-180, EU-182).In the early 1980's George was one of the first founders and promoters of the Russian Robinson Club where he still held the position of consultant.
