Here is the summary of the ARRL DX CW Multi-Two entry from K8AZ. We did
not have enough ops to make an all-out competitive effort, but everyone
here got lots of time in the chair, plus lots of time to catch up with old
friends. Competition aside, the fun we experienced was what this hobby is
really about.
It's worth mentioning that Katie, KE8LQR, was driven up here by her father,
Rob on Saturday morning. Rob is a school system administrator, and other
than supporting Katie in her radio interest, has not been bitten by the
radio bug. After fetching breakfasts (from the Arch Club), I saw Rob in
what we call the "Crew Lounge" for guys not on shift, and he was chatting
with several of the regulars (while Katie and K8CX banged out Qs on the
radios.) I asked Rob, "When you arrived, you told me you brought your
laptop so you could work while Katie operated, and you should feel free to
do your work; the Crew understands 100%." His reply was ,"No. THIS
(referring to the ongoing BS session) is MUCH more interesting." Believe
me, that made all of us long-time friends feel good. And Katie is a lucky
teen to have a dad that is so supportive.
Below is a summary of the results of the K8AZ CW effort. I plan to have
the station on for SSB, although the composition of the crew is TBD.
