William G. Welsh W1SAD/6 was the
winner of the 1961 Edison Radio Amateur Award.
He has brought the thrill of far-away places to many would-be
hams, 2800 in all, including some of a very tender age.
William W1SAD/6 (left) was named
to receive the General Electric's annual Edison Radio Amateur
Award for public service.
With William are Ray Meyers, director of the ARRL Southwestern
Division (seated), and Edward A. Neal, secretary of the Edison
Award council and editor of the GE Ham News publication.
