Operator: Bill McNeil was a well known DXer in the 1950's. Bill sent many photos to Don Chesser's DX Magazine for publishing.
 

W8OCT / W8JG seemed like a happy sort and had a DX competition grade station setup. Wm (Bill) McNeil 1919 - 1977 was from Detroit and eventually Brunswick, Medina County Ohio. Our friend Don K8MFO knew Bill and met him in person once, being most personable and friendly. He was working for Newtronics Corp, maker of Hustler antennas, helping Don on packaging a DX vertical antenna for travel. Bill had a fairly short life expired age 58 just before Christmas of 1977. Bill enjoyed the DX scene, the Dayton Hamvention and DX pals. K8MFO also stated : In old issues of Chesser's DX magazine you will find a lot of high quality pictures that Bill took of the DX luminaries at Dayton, with usually witty captions. He was an excellent high speed C.W. operator.
