USCGC Mackinac

Former U.S. Coast Guard Ocean Station Weather Cutters. Operator Dr. Joe Gardner *1943-2018* K3PPQ and K7CI former USCG Radioman aboard the Cutter Mackinac homeport of Staten Island NY.
Here is one phase of service to humanity. They provided other duties such as emergency Aircraft communications in that Zone called "The point of no return!"
The Cutter Mackinac was removed from service in 1967 and she met destruction by the U.S. Navy as a target and scuttled off the coast of Virginia in 1968.
