KC4AF 1958

Heading for Navassa Island

The contact was made 3 days before they got Navassa up on the air March of 1958. This is a 15M SSB contact with Jim Ringland W8JIN. No indication who he worked. My guess is Jake Schott or Frank Koval. As a side light, one of the boys Narvel Reece W8EZF would die in a motorcycle accident out in California a year or so later. Wayne Green W2NSD and Dale Strieter W4QM are the only survivors today (August 2012). There was motion picture footage taken but no one knows if it survived.
