PK1PW/MO 1947 Maritime Mobile

Piet van Weerlee, PA0YZ, ex-PK1PW/MM became a SK at age 75 in the year 1996. He received his Dutch license in January 1949. Piet was seated on the board of the department of Leiden "VERON" for 12 years. He was control operator of our union station PA0AA, (later PI4AA) from 1961 to 1986. As a member and chairman of the VERON Events Group, he was in charge of organizing the event for the VERON Pentecostal Camp. Since 1974 he was a member of the Vintage Club (Oldtimers Club) and was Secretary since 1985. He organized their annual re-union for over 10 years. He was a valued member of the PK club since its establishment. For the great work done for our club, he was elected Rookie of the Year in 1964. He was appointed to Merit in 1973 and an honorary member in 1989.

There were over 120 interested parties at his cremation ceremony. Among others that spoke, Agnes, PA3ADR, president of the VERON, and Dick, PA0SE, on behalf The Old Timers Club.

We wish his wife and other family members strength in this loss.
May he rest in peace.
