VE2GK W.G.Stygall

The history of the cruiser appears from a google search, or rather large bits and pieces of it.
It's the Clarke Steamship Company, started in 1921; it was popular in prohibition years because, being a Canadian ship, Americans could have a drink with their meals.

The op. was W.G.Stygall, VE2GK, who shows his photo on the card.

Page 61 of QST for November 1935 has a write-up "Hams Afloat", and tells us -
"VE2GK has been operating at sea for eight years on many different ships plying from Canadian ports to all parts of the globe.
He is at present Chief Wireless Officer on the S.S. New Northland, VGNC, engaged in Grenfell Mission Cruises, Canada to Labrador,
VE2GK has signed the following calls in the past: VGXZ VGRB VGDK VGZB VGZS VGTN.
