W3KIF/MM 1949

W3KIIF/MM s.s. Robin Wentley off the coast of South Africa, in QSO with ZC1AZ in Transjordan, in 1949.

Robert Stephenson, Jr., W3KIF, was active with the following call signs: W3KIF/MM, VQ4KIF, W3KIF/VQ3, VQ3KIF, VK4KIF, W3KIF/LU and possibly others.
He was probably a shipboard radio operator. He was active from the SS White Falcon, SS Wesleyan Victoria and probably other ships.
According to an SWL report, W3KIF/MM was operating from Walvis Bay into the mid-Atlantic during one trip.
He was a member of the First Class CW Operators' Club (FOC) from May 1957 to January 1972.
I have spent several hours trying to  find his birth and death dates without any luck. W3KIF last appears in a 1977 callbook.
