Byrd Antarctic Expedition 1930 WFAT

The operator of this QSO was well known New Zealand operator H. Neville Shrimpton, 4AO, later ZL4AO. Shrimpton joined the Byrd expedition at Dunedin, New Zealand. After the expedition he traveled with expedition crew to the U.S. where he visited the A.R.R.L. and other amateurs. He presented the A.R.R.L. with a large model of a telegraph key.
