PX1PF 1959 Andorra
Operators: DL1KB, DJ2MN, DL9PF
Hans DL1KB, Manfred DJ2MN,
Walter DL9PF set up and operated from a tent on a stark, barren,
rocky mountain pass of the Pyrenees.
Some of their problems were drinking water, icy gales, storms,
and a lack of antenna facilities.
The other choice would have been setting up in town, in a hole
surrounded by mountains. The mountain pass was chosen.
Their receiver and transmitter both failed, storms took down
their antennas, and their generator was intermittent.
Two of the ops were called home with family emergencies leaving
DL9PF to handle the DXpedition by himself.
The team returns to Andorra a year later in July 1960!

This 40/80 meter ground plane
was donated to the group by DJ2KS.
It was lost in a thunderstorm on the second day of the
DXpedition.
