Clyde V. Preece, KB6EPN (later
KH6NK) was an employee of the Civil Aeronautics Administration.
He was on Wake Island when typhoon "Olive" struck on
September 16, 1952. Because he was a U.S. Government employee he
was awarded $966 "...in full satisfaction of his claim
against the United States, which sum represents the reasonable
value of each claimant's personal property lost, damaged, or
destroyed at a result of [the] typhoon.... " (Private Law
86-258 April 9, 1960 [H. R. 825 I]).
Clyde was born Victor Clyde Preece December 2, 1912 in Kentucky,
son of Mr. and Mrs. M. T. Preece. He died March 28, 1997 in
Honolulu, Hawaii.
