Mankato Minnesota Native Priest Slain in Central America
Jesuit priest taught high school for several years in Kansas City and Denver before being assigned to British Honduras missions in 1941. Rev. Sontag last visited Mankato, Minn. in March of 1958.
The priest was found slain Wednesday in his British Honduras missionary office, according to word received here today. Rev. Gregory B. Sontag, 57, was killed with a machete, police at Belize, British Honduras reported. Motive for the slaying was not immediately available.
Rev. Sontag, born in Mankato,
Minn. Feb. 17, 1903, was the son of Englebert Sontag and Francis
Robel.
