Operator: John Joseph Fassett
who held the callsign 1AR/c1AR/VE1AR.
"Old Joe" was the first licensed amateur radio operator
in the province of Nova Scotia in Canada.
|He resided in Woodside near Dartmouth and had quite the station.
In 1925 he won the Murphy Radio Cup, a trophy open to Maritime
members of the ARRL.
|Also, he was internationally recognized for relaying telegraph
messages from Nova Scotia to New York when the Titanic sank in
1912.
