G2BPJ 1950 England
Operator: Philip H. Wade
Nearly fell off my chair when I
saw the 1928 G2BPJ card come up. The
call must have been re-issued, but the later G2BPJ was the first
ham I ever heard. I was about fifteen and was listening to an
opera from our BBC, and in an interval turned to the short wave
band where you could hear the likes of Radio Moscow etc., and
heard two local hams - G2BPJ and G3FWL discussing the opera!!
They were on a lot, working DX, and it set me on the road to
ruin.
I found this 1950 card on eBay a while back, and paid a few
dollars for it for sentimental reasons.
