Writen on the card: "Although I put a Pirate Spark signal on the air from Sydenham, London, in 1913 when a 16-year-old probationer with the old Eastern Telegraph Co. ( now Cable and Wireless), I am not an old timer because I only got my amateur ticket 37 years ago (= 1933). The call was held by M. Burchill of Bristol in 1924".

He seems to have had an interesting life working for: Eastern Telegraph Co., 5th King's Liverpools, 18th Kings Royal Rifle Corps., Brazilian Meat Co., St. John del Rey Mining Co., Royal Observer Corps., Hacker Signs, Spooner Signs.
