The date of the contact is 26 December 1953 ( " Boxing Day ", the day after Christmas).
Short Wave Magazine, February 1960, reported that Mark Hollinshead G5QG died by being electrocuted in the course of a DX phone contact on ..... Christmas Eve 1959.
Seems he touched something he shouldn't have touched.
