G6VP 1930 England

My grandfather’s set-up G6VP. Alan Smith died in 1953. My mother (his daughter-in-law) still lives in the same house. Unfortunately my parents threw away everything connected with him. If your contacts know anything about him I’d be glad of the information.

This photograph is about the same period as the other. The man on the left of the photo is Alan Smith G6VP. Beside him is Donald Price, his son-in-law, who was electrocuted in 1935 while working at Crystal Palace on the development of television. In the background behind them is part of the radio mast at 12 Ferrers Avenue. Apparently Alan was ordered to take it down at the outbreak of World War 2.
