ET3RC 1962 Ethiopia

Operator: Dick Cormier K1KOM

The Ethiopian Parliament cancelled all American held ET2 licenses, effective 21 JUL '61, with the exception of ET2US.
This did not help the fact that Dick Cormier, K1KOM, had applied for his personal ET2 license upon his arrival in Asmara in JUL '59!
K1KOM eventually received his personal license, ET3RC, after waiting  28 months, and then he got to use it for 17 days, OCT 4 - OCT 21 '62, before leaving for Tehran and his quickly issued
EP2RC!
ET3RC QSL cards could be a scarce item!
It is a possibility that Dick created the ET2US/ET2 callsign to get around the slow arrival of his personal callsign.
After using the ET2US callsign from the club station location for over a year, he was then able to operate from his home QTH with the ET2US/ET2 call .
He used ET2US/ET2 NOV 27 '60 - OCT 4 '62.
ET3USA was first noted in DX spots APR '63.
K1KOM went SK JUN 7, 2019.

I got this ET3RC card from a personal friend of Dick Cormier, Dave Handlin.
Dave and I were friends, in Asmara during my 3 years there.
After I returned stateside, I mentioned to Dave that I was collecting Ethiopian QSL cards.
At that point he mentioned that he had a few ET3 cards, including an EYEBALL QSL from Dick Cormier, ET3RC!
It turns out that Dave and Dick were good friends, they both lived in the same town!
I mentioned to Dave, that I did not have an ET3RC QSL in my collection, and he was kind enough to send it along also including another EYEBALL QSL from ET2US/ET2!
