UA1QC 1962 USSR

It's a standard Russian icebreaker picture card, used for a QSO by a  Russian in Archangel, on the Barents Sea.
The flip side shows the details. Sent to VQ9A/MM. Via W4ECI !!
W4ECI of course was the QSL manager for Gus Browning W4BPD.
The report shows Gus /MM 200 miles west of Chagos. The card is listed for sale on Delcampe by a seller in France.
Obvious question - did all those cards received by Gus's manager survive ?
How did this one turn up in France ?
