DL100DAN 2007 Federal Republic of Germany
100 years of Norddeich Radio
On 1 June 1907 the public maritime Service in Germany started by the former, well known coaststation Norddeich Radio (last used main callsign: DAN). Norddeich Radio was the most important of all German coast-stations and provided a 24 hours Service on MF, HF and VHP in radio telegraphie, radio telephonie and radio telex. The Station worked for normal public correspondence and for satety at sea.Due to the advantage of the satellite telecommunication and therefore the decrease of the normal, traditional traffic, the last terrestrial Services of Norddeich Radio were closed end of 1998.This was the end of the history of the German radio maritime Service which started 1907 with the foundation of Norddeich Radio.
