TR8AC2 1978 Gabon Republic

Albert Curley II, TR8AC2, TR8AC, TU4BU

When Al received his call sign in Gabon the suffix of the call was determined by the operator's initials. Al's initials were AC2, hence the call TR8AC2. Al operated with this call until it was determined that the suffix did not conform to the rules. He was then issued the call TR8AC.

After Libreville, Al was assigned to a position in Alexandria, Egypt, but he was unable to obtain a license.

Al’s father 1st Sgt Albert Curley 1922-2018 U.S. Army retired, wounded in WW2 received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for bravery.
SGT Curley was one of the last surviving Buffalo Soldier 9th Horse Cavalry Troopers.

Al retired in 2006 after 37 years service in the U.S. Department of State's Foreign Service.
