HH3RC 1954 Haiti

Operator: Rev. Roger Colvin, pastor of St. Mark’s (1977- 1992) died April 5, 2008.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in naval communications. He maintained a life-long hobby in amateur radio and connected overseas servicemen with their families in the USA. After attending Asbury College, he went to Haiti as a missionary. Upon returning, he attended Temple School of Theology. Following a pastorate at the United Methodist Church in Wissahickon, he returned to the mission field, going to Puerto Rico from 1959 to 1972. Before coming to St. Mark’s in 1977, he pastored the First United Methodist Church in Easton, Pennsylvania. He retired from St. Marks United Methodist Church, Mount Joy, PA in 1992."

His US call was W3PWH. He was born in 1927 and ended his days in Elizabethtown, PA.

If he was born in 1927, he will have been 15 when the U.S. came into World War II.
So he must have joined Navy Communications at a very early age.
