K6FCX 1931 Hawaii

LTCDR Robert L. Simpson, U.S. Navy, retired, W7WM, ex-K6FCX, W6FCX, WA6FCX, K6NAA, "Spark OP" and possibly other call signs.
He was in the U.S. Navy 1919 - 1923. In 1920 he was an operator at U.S. Navy radio station NAM at Norfolk, Virginia.
He was at Pearl Harbor on December 7 when  the Japanese attacked and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Association.
He went to sea after getting his commercial operator ticket in 1922. He sailed on several ships, then worked at radio station KPH in San Francisco.
He was in the Navy again in 1940-1947. He was with Admiral Halsey on Halsey's flagship. He went through the war going to all of the islands.
He retired from ITT/Press Wireless in 1967.
He was a member of QCWA, SOWP and ARRL Morse Telegraph Club.
He was born February 18, 1901 in California. Date of death unknown.
