I1AFS 1958 Italy

The station above is I1AFS, amateur station of the Allied Forces Southern Europe in Naples, Italy. Anyone from any country is permitted to operate it, although personnel at this moment are Del E. Clouser, W8KJP, from Springfield, OH; T/Sgt Joe Johnson, K4EXU, and S/Sgt Roger Redus, W4ZYD. I1AFS came on the air April 27, 1957, through the courtesy and sponsorship of Col. Massimo Giovanozzi I1XX (Italian Air Force). Rig is a 50 watt WRL Globe Scout with VFO, NC-183-D receiver, a windom all band antenna, and a 20M doublet. They work 80 - 10 meters.
