KA2DE Japan
Col. James M. Demott, USAF, was
an Air Force chaplain for a number of years while stationed in
Japan.
His calls, while in Japan, were KA2DE, KA2HQ and KA6DE. His first
call was KN5DED while stationed in Texas. His home call was
K5DED.
KA2 Dead-Eye was very active on
the bands. He acquired a large number of awards in his 17 months
of activity.
Jim is the 1st single operator KA to win the WAZ award and held
the highest DXCC total in KA history 142 worked / 128 confirmed.
Equipment: Heath Apache transmitter, SB-10 SSB adaptor, Collins
R-388 receiver. He used a quad antenna that the wind brought down
before leaving. He also used douplet antennas.
