EX/PA2JWN 2003 Kyrgyzstan

Operating from Bishkek-Manas Airport, Kyrgzstan.
Club Log shows 143 QSO's, so looks like a stop-over. PA2EWN is still on qrz.com, but no e-mail.
It would be interesting to know what he was doing there. Was he licensed? Nobody stopped him.
Manas Airport was used from 2002 by the USA as an air base for operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Anyone have any information?
