VS9BU/ Portable 1949 Maldive Islands

I haven't seen a scan of the back of the card, but the seller tells me there is a note that the operator received permission to operate from a Gov't official.
The card was signed " Mike " and this seems to be Mike Faraday G3BUX who was with the Royal Air Force. Mike was ex- YI3BUX ( the BU again ) and looking again at the November 1949 Short Wave magazine it says - " G3BUX hopes to be operating for a short time under the call of VQ9BU on the Seychelles Island in early November "

Short Wave Magazine dated November 1949, reports that VS7BJ says there had never been any activity from the Maldives (in 1949), and that VS9BU was phoney.

Maldive Island was activated by VS9MA and VS1BB/VS9, nine years later in 1958.
