Bikini Atoll was the site of the BRAVO HYDROGEN BOMB TEST, the largest weapon ever tested by the United States, which occured on Bikini Atoll, March 1, 1954.

Captain Christan L. Engleman, Jr., USN, (W3RC, SK 1906-1995) was the officer in charge of the electronics phase of  the expedition.
With him was a group of operators and support personnel:
Edward H. Shuler (W6OVE, later K6DT, chief op), Dick Frazier (W7KAQ), Harold Tingey (W2UEI), Thomas Austin (ex-W8RUJ) and W. E. Glenn.
