HH0N 1981 Navassa Island

Did not count for DXCC

The Haitian government had always disputed the US claim to Navassa. The Haitian government flew the team members and all their equipment in by helicopter. The HH0N DXpedition team was interviewed by the US Navy officials that were stationed on Navassa. The Navy official asked if we had a permit to land and we all replied "we do not need a permit to travel in our country". At that reply they immediately became courteous as they understood that is was an Amateur Radio team. The 2 teams co-operated, enjoyed, and helped each other during their stay on the island.
