FN2C 1931 Nigeria
G.C. Wilmot, the first radio operator from Nigeria. He was Captain of the 1st Battalion of the Nigeria Regiment of the British Army. He also use KM1 around 1926-27, then became ZD2A in 1931. I believe Mr. Wilmot held the call signs 2OO (Ebrington Barracks, Londonderry) & 6WT (Sefton Park, Liverpool) at home in the U.K.
There was some concern that was
"FN" of FN2C was a French prefix. In this case,
"FN" was not a prefix.
The paragraph below should explain the situation:
The author of article about the FN2C QSL in the May 1987 issue of
Popular Communications Magazine was concerned about the Nigerian
station using the French "FN" prefix.
The "FN" was not a prefix. The author did not take into
consideration that during this period prefixes for amateur radio
stations were new and not all countries had been issued a prefix.
"FN" was not a prefix, it was an
"intermediate," "F" for an African station,
"N" for Nigeria.
