Operator was Nicholas Timashenka (born 1922 in Springdale, PA, died 2011 in Cupertino, CA), holder of the call-signs W3MVJ, D4ACL, DL4CL, W6CTK.
In 1941, before Pearl Harbor, he
enlisted in the Army Air Force.
As a career soldier, he was stationed all over the world working
as a radio range communications specialist.
After retiring from the service, he worked as a county
communications specialist in California.
A ham radio operator from his teen years, he continued
communicating by the phone with family, friends and former
neighbors in the Alle-Kiski Valley area.
