HP1BR 1949 Panama

Alfred Robert "Bob" Rowley, HP1BR, ex-HP1X and HP4Q, must have been a vagabond.
He went to sea when he was a teenager, usually as a radio operator. There are so many ship records that doument his travels at Ancestry.com that I got tired of looking at them.
Most of his travels were in the Caribbean and he had passports from several countries.

He settled In Panama where he had the three call signs (above).

Here is an item from the May 1947 issue of Amateur Radio (Australia):
"Bob Rowley , HP4Q, writes to say he is under cover, and QSLs for him should not be sent to HP1A, but should be sent either direct or via A.R.R.L.

He was born circa 1907 in Truoro, Canada and according to the February 1972 issue of Amateur Radio (Australia) he became a Silent Key "November 20," which means he died November 20, 1971.
