FP8BG 1959 St. Pierre et Miquelon Islands

After 13 days of operating as FP8BG and FP8JC, Pag made a total of 1901 QSO's on 20 meter CW and Phone, 40 meter CW.
Radio conditions were best that he has ever seen!

 

Left is the only licensed ham on St. Pierre Gus Roblat FP8AP, center Gilles "Pag" Page VE2ABE who operated as FP8BG / FP8JC, and Rene, a SWL on the right.

 

This is the station used by Pag at FP8BG / FP8JC on St. Pierre Island.
HT-17 transmitter with linear amplifier, BC348 receiver.

 

This is the view from the DC3 Dakota airplane of the capitol city of St. Pierre.
No one spoke English on this island.

There has never been an operation from Miquelon. Pag says he may try for Miquelon Is. next year.

 

This is the traditional room #8 at the Robert Hotel where most of the previous FP8 DXpeditions have operated.
Sitting on the table is Gus Boblot FP8AP, guiding light and welcoming committee of many FP8 DXpeditions.
