6BBQ 1925 Pasadena, CA.

Frank Floria Macik, W6BBQ and W6UAQ, of Pasadena, California was born in New York City, New York May 4, 1905. He died March 24, 1947 in Los Angeles, California.

He was an active operator beginning in the early 1920's with the callsigns 6BBQ, 6CNS, W6BBQ and W6CNS. He was a city manager for the A.R.R.L. and an O.R.S. station.
In the January 1925 issue of Radio magazine his station was described. His transmitter was running 5 watts and he had a new 50 watt ready to put on the air. His antenna was 60 ft. high and 50 ft. long.

The first contact between the USA and Japan was on April 6, 1925 between J1AA Takeo Kawahara and U6BBQ Frank Macik according to Royot "ROY" Motobayashi's  JJ1WTL site.
