My grandfather obtained his first amateur license on 4 June 1926: 8BVL. This licensed lapsed when he went on the Great Lakes as a radio operator.
On 1 April 1930 he got a new amateur license W8DAJ and had this call sign until the fall of 1975.
With a new Florida call sign, my grandfather remained an active amateur until February 1997. That is almost 71 years of being a Ham.
