Dewitt Lane Jones, died January 29, 2006 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born in Kenilworth, Ilinois on Christmas Day 1917. He was a graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois and Dartmouth College. He served the Army Air Corps in World War II and attained the rank of Major. After the war, he worked for The Walt Disney Company and later joined the Leo Burnett Advertising Company where he rose to the position of senior Vice President, heading accounts such as United Airlines, Schlitz, and Oldsmobile. Dewitt retired in 1970 and he and his wife Barbara moved to Captiva Island, Florida where he became president of the Captiva Conservation Association and continued his life long hobby of Ham Radio. They later moved to Glen Arbor, Micihgan and Olympia, Washington. After his wife's passing, he moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.
Around 1972 he moved to Florida - became W4BAA - and a big early participant in IOTA.
