Don Karvonen as a novice! Now a famous DXer K8MFO!

Licensed at age 12 in August 1958. I only used the DX-40 on the desk for a short time. I got so many OO reports and FCC citations for my second harmonic that I switched over to a Heathkit AT-1 which was on the floor. Each time I went from transmit to receive I had to physically move the coax from the transmitter to the receiver, a Hallicrafters SX-99 !!
