N8DE 2009 Edmore, Michigan
There is a lot of print in the Don Chesser W4KVX DX Bulletins about "Little Don" as Don Havlicek N8DE was known. Don Chesser was "Big Don". Little Don W8QHW, N8DE worked for Chesser at the farm putting out the Ohio Valley DX Bulletins.
I read one issue where Little Don got his index finger stuck in the press and it was such a bad cut and tear that Big Don had to take him to docs, they said it was a hospital case and Big Don went immediately to the hospital. I asked little Don about the injury and he said yes, he got a ride in Big Don's DeSoto and to this very day the finger is crooked and does not have feeling in the nail.
Eventually Little Don left for better things and got a fine education and as a side line was a tower topper. He did all of the Big Gun antennas around Cincy such as W8JIN, W8FGX, W8RSW and the old masters. He still has his Collins 75A1 and Viking 1.
