W8SIO 1930's St. Joseph, Michigan

George Jones (W8SIO) was a US Navy radioman attached to the USS Downes (DD-375). He died on December 7, 1941 when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.
I suspect that Jones must have given the card to my father (then W8TYG) just prior to that date. My dad was a Navy radioman on the USS MacDonough (DD-351).

When Mr. G.E. Jones passed, the St. Joseph High School acquired the callsign in memory of him. It is now registered to Saint Joseph High School Amateur Radio Club Alumni Assn.
