I read that US hams could operate on 2.5M during WWII.
The frequency listed on the card is 112 MC.
I recently came across an usual card confirming  a contact between a Mobile station on Garrett Mountain ( Rock), Paterson, NJ  and Clifton, NJ.
Knowing the area well, this was only a distance of a few miles. 
This proves there was some experimentation at that frequency pre WWII.
The post war 2 meter cards I have found mostly start in 1947.
