Operators: Gertrude Schmidt, John W. Schmidt

John William Schmidt took his commercial first grade radio operator’s license examination at the federal building in Buffalo, NY on March 24th, 1922.
The exam was conducted by A.F. Parkhurst who was Assistant Radio Inspector, Department of Commerce. John was issued the call sign 8CHY.
John served as a Radioman in the U.S. Navy and made his way up to Lieutenant. He served in WWII and Korea.
He was born 5/26/1906 and died 5/15/1981. He is buried in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.

His sister was Gertrude A. Schmidt. She became a school teacher in 1925. She taught Domestic Arts.
