The operator was "GX" chief operator Everett W. "Ev" Thatcher, 8GX and 6AWP, later K6EC.
He was physics teacher and researcher. He was born January 24, 1904 in Jefferson, Ohio and died in California on April 24, 1992 from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
He was 88 years old. He lived in San Diego and  retired from the Navy Electronics Laboratory in 1966. In later years he was active with the call sign K6EC.
