Emma Candler 8NH was thought to be the 1st YL operator in the United States. She obtained her license in January 1915. She later became W8NH.
Further research found 2 YL operators from 1913:
8EZ Mary Alice McConaughy from Cincinnati, OH
6SM Hazel Smith, probably from CA.

Emma 8NH was married to high school principal Charles Candler 8ZL, ex: 8ER.
During WWI, when amateur radio was shut down, Emma and Charles worked secretly for the US Government by assisting in radio communications.
Nothing else is know about this operation.
