Earl Charles Hanson, W8AXT, W8BEG, 8AXT and 6CQ, Silent Key (c.1892-?). He was still listed as W8AXT in the 1983 Callbook.
He was a prolific inventor and had numerous patents. In 1917 he invented a compact radiotelephone system, followed by the first commercially produced hearing aid. During World War I he worked with the U. S. Navy improving and testing his system that would lead ships through harbors. He also dabbled in underground radio (U.S. patent 1,373,612).
