NL7XM 2004 Easton, Pennsylvania

Operator: Pete Varounis

In June 2017, I travelled to Cuba.
I visited many hams homes and saw their stations, as well as the Club station where I was the Guest Of Honor.
They sang love ballads and served food and alcohol at their Club Meeting! Wives and children attend. It’s a total social event.

June 10, 2017 on the Santa Lucia beach in Camagüey, Cuba with local hams:
CO7WT, CO7SF, CO7RR, NL7XM, W7HU, CO7DG

An honorary tour of the city in a 1952 Belair Deluxe Convertible!

Now you know where those Eastern Airlines planes ended up!

Got my Official T-shirt for this one. The FRC granted us the Callsign we planned to use for the weekend, but written permission for the operation never came.

After the VIP welcome I received at the Club Meeting, I suddenly realized I was expected to deliver a speech I never thought of preparing, but the alcohol kickstarted instant creative skills.

The omnipresent image of Fidel Castro and the National flag, hangs beside the symbol of the Cuban Radio Federation.
“The singer is Ivan, CO7ICC. The portrait behind him is that of Candido Gonzalez, a revolutionary martyr.”

Long tables on the right had platters of fresh food prepared by the XYL’s, and an ample supply of assorted locally produced rum.

See Pete at the 2016 Dayton Hamvention!
