5QA 1926 Abilene, Texas

Operator: Rufus Valentine “Vol” Hargrove, Sr. of Abilene, Texas. First licensed as 5QA in 1924 he then became W5QA.
He was born 10/23/1899. He married his wife Ora in 1921 and they had 8 children in 14 years.
He was shot & killed on 4/30/1948 by his 19 year old son-in-law Billy Ray Davis. Davis was sentenced to 10 years in the state penitentiary for the murder.
