Arthur Godfrey K4LIB (August 31, 1903 – March 16, 1983) was a radio and television broadcast entertainer who was known by his nickname, The Old Redhead. Arthur was very popular in the 1950's until an on-camera incident undermined his image and triggered a gradual decline. Godfrey helmed two CBS-TV weekly series and a daily 90-minute television show through most of the 1950's. By the early 1960's he found himself reduced to hosting an occasional TV special. He was the most prominent early master commercial pitchmen. Most people remember his main sponsor, Lipton Tea.
