F. H. Harvey, HVW, now YJ1RV
F. H. Harvey was the assistant wireless operator of Vila Radio, Port Vila, New Hebrides. He was a native of Ashfield, Western Australia. In 1929 he was working as a trader on the island of Ambrym, New Hebrides when the island's volcano erupted. In 1931 he was awarded by the French Government a silver honour medal of the first class for brave conduct ("belles actions"), for his services in saving life during the recent volcanic eruption on the island of' Ambrym, in the New Hebrides.
Mr. Harvey is a son of Mr. J. L. Harvey, shire clerk of Coonabarabran, New South Wales, Australia.
A 1951 issue of "Pacific Islands Monthly" reported the death of Francis Hilary Harvey, a well known planter of Epi Island, New Hebrides.
